How to do a simple smokey eye?

I want something that looks natural, not too much make up. Every time I try to do a smokey eye it ends up looking like an over done hooker or drag queen! Ugh. I’ve even tried the darn 3 or 4 color eyeshadow kits that are meant for blending but it always looks like too much make up! I have blue eyes, with a gray tint. Any tips or hints? I practice at home, but so far it’s just not working.

Here’s a video that really helped me out!

get 3 shades of a brown. light medium and dark. put the light from your lashline to your brow bone, the medium on just your eyelid, and the dark in your crease. then blend it. i do it everyday for school. hope i helpeddd(:
Youtube has wonderful makeup instructional videos! Find some smokey eye tutorials, and find the one that looks like the one you want and try it!
first off, if you want something light and to brighten blue eyes.. i would pick shades of brown. it sounds weird but it really makes your eyes bright and big. i have a pallet from the dollar store call L.A colors and its all the brown colors. i use a light brown color ( not to light) on my lid then i use a reddish darker brown on the outer corner, then i use the darkest color on the very outer Corner of my eye so you can still see the other colors then i blend that color into my crease. then taking the white i put some in the inner corner of my eye to brighten them. then i use cover girl lash blast ( the purple one) in brown/black.
smokey eyes are not that hard to do……just start out with two shades dark and a lighter dark
put the light dark on your lid but make sure it doesnt go over the crease…..than line the crease with the darker color from the middle to the corner…..at the corner youre gonna make like alil arrow shape pointing up and out….kinda like an arrow cut in half…..anyways make sure you complete by underlining your eye with the dark shade just alil and finish off with mascara….and if you want put lil light color on your upper lid right under the brow………….i hope it works for you…..and dont worry it looks weird at first because maybe its the first time doing it….and whatever you do dont put your dark make up in dim light always do it in bright light…you dont wanna look like and over done clown..
hey girl i rekon this is the best i’ve seen yet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0WBGrmjqKA
Use light browns or golds to make it a more natural look. Start off with the lighter shade of eyeshadow and put it on lightly on your eyelid. Take the darker tone and put it in the corner of your eye and blend it into the crease of your eyelid. Take a blending brush and blend it too make it seem more smooth with no harsh lines. It’s really quite a simple and cute makeup look once you get the hang of it (:
